Hastings Sunrise, recently rebranded as The East Village, is one of Vancouver's oldest neighbourhoods. It is primarily residential with tons of shops, restaurants and services along East Hastings Street, as well as pockets of shops on Nanaimo and East Broadway.
It is home to the Pacific National Exhibition (the PNE to us locals), New Brighton Park and Trinity Street.
New Brighton is a hidden gem. It's a waterfront park that faces the North Shore Mountains and has a little beach, a children's playground and a great outdoor pool. Residents of Trinity Street go all out every December, decorating their houses and yards with thousands of Christmas lights and holiday displays.
